⚠️Your roast machine needs to be successfully connected to the Roasting Intelligence before you can start performing the actions outlined in this article. To connect your roast machine with Roasting Intelligence, you must first add the roast machine to the online platform C-sar.

Additionally, ensure you download the specific version of Roasting Intelligence compatible with your machine's connection type, as detailed in your roast machine setup manual.

Overview

This article provides an overview of the two primary tools and the essential first steps for launching Cropster Roast.

Introducing the two main tools

Before your first roast, we suggest getting to know the following tools to ensure a smooth setup:

  1. Managing tool: Online platform C-sar
  2. Roasting tool: Roasting Intelligence

Getting to know the online platform C-sar

C-sar is your cloud-based hub for managing production, green inventory, and quality control.
⚠️ The key features vary depending on your subscription and permission.

Once logged in, you can personalize your dashboard by using the Customize dropdown menu to display the data most relevant to your workflow.

Getting to know Roasting Intelligence

Roasting Intelligence provides real-time visualization and tracking for your batches, with the added capability to automate profile replays on compatible machines. Every session is automatically uploaded to the online platform C-sar.

💡 Tips and Recommendations:

For enhanced future production tracking, you can label every roast with the designated Roast technician's name.

Getting started with Cropster Roast

Think of roasting like cooking: a perfect result requires both quality ingredients and a solid recipe. In Cropster, your "ingredients" are the green coffee lots in your inventory, and your "recipe" is your roast Profile.

To get the most value out of the platform, we recommend following the foundational setup steps and workflow outlined in the next sections.

Step 1: Adding locations

By utilizing locations, you can segment your inventory and maintain a complete audit trail of every action taken once a lot is assigned to a specific site, such as a warehouse or roastery.
Learn how to add a location.

Step 2: Adding lots to the (Green) Inventory

Green Inventory allows you to monitor your physical coffee stock directly via the online platform C-sar.
You can distribute your inventory across multiple sites, such as warehouses and roasting facilities, for precise tracking.

Additionally, Cropster automatically updates your stock levels after every roast, ensuring you always have an accurate, real-time view of your remaining green coffee.

Step 3: Creating a Profile or Profile groups

In Cropster, Profiles serve as the digital recipes for your finished coffee, containing both the necessary ingredients and specific instructions.

To streamline your workflow, you can organize these into Profile groups, which bundle different recipes that contribute to the same final product. This grouping is essential for organizing and scheduling any post-roast blends.

Profiles allow you to track each roast based on how you roast it.
Learn how to manage Profiles.

⚠️  Exceeding 100 Profiles in your account can cause synchronization issues with the Roasting Intelligence. To maintain optimal performance and reliability, we recommend keeping your active profile list below this limit.

Step 4: Performing your first roast with Roasting Intelligence

Roasting Intelligence provides key data to refine your product development, boosting operational efficiency while maintaining strict quality consistency across every batch.

Step 5: Setting a Reference Curve

Once you have completed your first roast and established your Profiles, you can define your Reference curve.
💡We recommend assigning a unique Profile to each recipe so that every coffee has its own specific benchmark.

The Reference curve acts as a visual guide during the roasting process to help you achieve maximum consistency. It appears as a gray background curve in Roasting Intelligence, providing a real-time target to follow from charge to drop.
