This article offers a comprehensive overview of the data analysis capabilities available through the Cafe Telemetry page.
Why use Cafe Telemetry?
Cafe Telemetry allows you to gather and analyze real-time data from your espresso machine. Our goal is to enhance your experience by providing Cafe Telemetry, which delivers data in a clear and understandable format.
Navigating through a wealth of data can seem daunting at first, but rest assured, we are here to assist you every step of the way.
The components of the Cafe Telemetry Insights page
In the upcoming sections, we will explore each data source in detail, guiding you through the types of data you are collecting and providing insights on how to analyze this information effectively.
- The KPI cards
- The Daily Brew Times scatter plot
- Brew success and production over time
- Grouphead usage over time
- Brews and flushes over time
- The Grouphead table
To access the specific data you want to analyze, simply utilize the Filter button to define the following criteria:
- Location
- Espresso Machine
- Date range
The KPI cards
Once you have set your criteria using the Filter button, the KPI cards will be displayed in the Telemetry Insights section, providing you with valuable metrics at a glance.
The KPI cards provide the following information:
- Brews in range | Brews out of range | (Brews) Not evaluated
- Total Brew distribution across groupheads | 1 | 2 | 3
- Total Brews | Total Flushes
The Daily Brew Times scatter plot
This scatter plot offers a comprehensive view of the daily brewing times for your selected brews, illustrating the brewing duration throughout the day.
It enables you to monitor the Brews and identify which ones may require adjustments for optimal performance.
- To begin analyzing the Daily Brew Times scatter plot, you must first select the specific Brew you wish to examine by clicking on the dropdown.
- Upon selecting the Brew, you will be presented with the Brew times throughout the day, along with their respective time.
💡The evaluation of Brews in/out of range on the scatterplot is based on the time parameter only.
The Brews will be visually represented using three distinct markers:
- Green - In time range
- Red - Out of time range
- Orange - Not evaluated
- You can navigate through different dates by clicking the arrows at the bottom of the page, allowing you to review past data or revisit specific details whenever you need.
- By clicking on the "Go to Brews overview" option, you can seamlessly navigate to the Brews table (Brews overview page).
You may find it interesting to know that you can easily export the complete Brews table (Brews overview page), which encompasses all fields and brewing methods, into a .csv file for further analysis or record-keeping.
To export the complete Brews table, click the Export button located in the top right corner of the Brews overview page. A window will appear, prompting you to select the desired Date range for your export:
Now that you have a solid understanding of the data, let's explore some practical examples to illustrate what consistent daily brewing looks like:
✅
The chart indicates that the majority of Daily brew times fall within the desired range, as evidenced by the consistent presence of green markers throughout the display.
❌
The chart reveals a lack of consistency in the Daily brew times, as evidenced by a significantly higher number of red markers compared to green ones.
Brew success and production over time
The Brew success and Production Over Time graph provides a visual representation of the number of brews that fall within or outside of the desired parameters relative to total production over time.
This insight allows you to identify trends in performance across various time frames, such as days or weeks, highlighting periods of increased or decreased production and brew success.
By selecting the checkbox labeled "Show per weekday," you can view the total number of Brews along with their corresponding time aggregates for each day of the week.
Grouphead usage over time
This graph illustrates the usage distribution of each Grouphead over specified time intervals.
Each Grouphead is represented by a unique color, allowing for easy identification, while the percentage of production associated with each Grouphead is displayed.
Brews and flushes over time
This graph provides a visual representation of the total number of Brews and flushes conducted across all Groupheads over a specified period.
- The green bar indicates a Brew.
- The blue bar indicates a Flush.
This allows you to evaluate the relationship between the number of flushes and brews, helping to determine if flushing is being conducted appropriately, whether it is excessive or insufficient.
Let's take a look at the following examples to illustrate examples of effective and ineffective brewing practices in terms of Brews and flushes and Grouphead usage over time:
✅
Consistent Brews and appropriate Flushes. In an ideal scenario, you would observe a balanced relationship between brews and Flushes across all Groupheads.
For instance, if a specific Grouphead shows a high number of Brews, accompanied by a reasonable number of flushes, this indicates that the machine is being used efficiently and maintained properly.
❌
The data reveals a disproportionate amount of flushing relative to the number of brews. The excessive number of flushes may suggest that the Grouphead is not being utilized effectively or that there are underlying issues requiring attention.
This situation can result in inefficient use of time and resources, adversely affecting overall productivity and possibly diminishing the quality of the brews.
The Grouphead table
The Grouphead table displays both the absolute numerical figures and their corresponding percentage values for a comprehensive understanding of the data.
The Grouphead table provides a detailed summary of the data for the selected timeframe, allowing you to analyze key metrics effectively:
- Average brew pulses
-
Average brew time
-
Total brews and the percentage of brews on this Grouphead of the total on the machine
-
Brews in range, in absolute number and percentage of in range to total (per Grouphead)
