Santoker (over network) - Roasting Intelligence (RI) Setup (beta)

This manual covers the connection to the network of a Santoker roast machine, and the setup to Cropster's Roasting Intelligence.

If you haven't been invited to participate in the beta program for this integration, but you are interested in participating and testing the feature, please sign up here.

Beta means that the features are being tested with a select group of users to help us identify minor flaws under everyday conditions that we cannot reproduce internally. Therefore, it will be necessary that you share feedback with us and let us know whenever you come across some unexpected behavior.

Setting up a connection

If your Santoker roaster is equipped with a wireless router, in order to connect to the roaster, you need to connect to the wireless network provided by the Santoker roaster's router.

  1. Find the available network provided by the Santoker roaster.
  2. Connect to the Santoker's wireless network.

Proceed with the Roasting Intelligence (RI) Setup.

Note: In case you connect to the internet with a wireless connection and your computer does only support one wireless connection at a time, you can try either of the two options below:
  • (Recommended) Connect your computer to the internet via Ethernet cable.
  • Run RI in offline mode by clicking "Continue offline" in the RI's login window. Roasts can be synchronized at a later time by connecting to the internet again, then clicking the Synchronize button from RI.

      Installing the Roasting Intelligence (RI) software

      1. Download the Roasting Intelligence from https://download-beta.cropster.com/
      2. The Cropster installer leads you through all the installation steps.
      3. Open the RI by double-clicking the Cropster icon on the desktop
      4. Enter your username and password.
        The username is the email address your Cropster invitation has been sent to. Use the password you've generated when accepting the invitation.
      5. Click the Login button.

      Establishing a connection to the machine

      1. If you are setting up RI for the first time, click the Select machine button in the banner at the top or click gear-png-2 Preferences  > Machine > Configuration bottom left to access the  preferences screen.
      2. Select the Roasting machine you would like to connect from the drop down menu (e.g. Santoker)
        If the machine is not in the list you can add via the online platform
      3. Select Santoker (over Network) from the dropdown for all measurements.

        Make your measurement readouts more compact. Choose the size of your measurement readouts by selecting either the Small or Large view for display.

      4. Click on the Gear icon to open the PLC IP-Settings.
        • Hostname/IP address: 10.10.100.254
        • Port: 20001

      5. Click Save to confirm the changes. The RI requires a restart to apply the settings.
      6. If the setup was successful you will be able to see temperature values on the right-hand side of the RI screen, after the restart.

      Troubleshooting

      If the RI indicates No source connected and/or you cannot see any measurements, please check the following: 

      • Is your computer connected to the Santoker's wireless network?
      • Are the port and IP address set properly in the Machine settings?
