Managing locations
Table of Contents
Overview
A location represents a physical site in your operation, such as a warehouse, a transit hub, or a production facility. After a location exists, you can assign roasting machines and green lots to it, which is what makes roasting activity and inventory traceable to a specific site.
This article is for group administrators who set up and maintain the sites that a roasting operation works across.
Before you begin
- You need Group Administrator permission.
- Log in to the online platform C-sar. Every procedure in this article starts there.
Add a location
- In the navigation bar at the top, click More > Locations.
- Click +Add location.
- Enter the location details described in the following table.
- Click Create location.

The following table lists every field on a location, and applies both when you add a location and when you edit one.

Assign a roasting machine to a location
Every roasting machine needs a location when you add it to your C-sar account. Select the location while you are adding the machine.
To reach the machine settings, go to Machines. For the full procedure, see Adding a new roast machine.

The machine location can also be updated by editing the machine details.
Assign green lots to a location (warehouse distribution)
To allocate green coffee lots to a site, use the Warehouse distribution tool.
- On the main menu bar, click Inventory.
- Select the checkbox next to each lot that you want to distribute.
- On the right of the screen, click Warehouse distribution.
- Allocate the weight in one of two ways:
- Enter the weight that you want to transfer in the field for a chosen location.
- At the bottom of the page, click All to to move the whole amount at once.
- Click Update.
Edit a location
- In the navigation bar at the top, click More > Locations.
- Find the location that you want to modify, then click the Edit icon on the right of the screen.
- Update any of the fields listed in Location details.
- Click Update location.
Delete a location
Deleting a location leaves everything assigned to it without a location, including equipment and recipes. Reassign anything that you want to keep tracked before you delete the location.
- In the navigation bar at the top, click More > Locations.
- Find the location that you want to remove, then click the Delete icon on the right of the screen.
- Read the confirmation message: "Are you sure you want to delete this location? Any items or data assigned to this location (equipment, recipes, etc.) will no longer have a location."
- Click Delete.
Troubleshooting

- Remove or reassign any equipment that is still associated with the location.
You cannot select the Cafe location type
