This manual covers the connection of Revolva 30-G roast machine with Ethernet port, manufactured 2020 onwards to Cropster's Roasting Intelligence.

This roast machine is currently in the Beta stage of development at Cropster.

Setting up a connection

Via the computer

 

  1. Connect the network cable to your roaster's Ethernet port 
  2. Connect the other end to the computer's Ethernet port.

When the roaster is connected to the computer directly, you need to set up a static IP address. 

 


Network settings
 

Configuring a Static IP address - Windows 7, 8, 10

  1. Navigate to the Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center or Network and Internet > Network Sharing Center.
  2. Click Change adapter settings. 
  3. Identify the Network connection item that refers to the connection to your machine and select that item.
    If unsure which icon refers to the roast machine, disconnect and reconnect the Ethernet cable to see which icon changes status.
  4. Right-click on WiFi or Local Area Connection. 
  5. Click Properties. 
  6. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). 
  7. Click Properties.
  8. Select Use the following IP Address option.
  9. Click on Use the following IP Address and enter only the following:
    • IP Address - the first three blocks should match your roast machine's IP address, but the fourth block should be 42: 172.30.30.42
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  10. Leave the rest blank. 
  11. Click OK to save your changes.
 
 

 

Configuring a Static IP address - macOS

  1. Navigate to Apple > System Preferences > Network
  2. Identify the Network connection item that refers to the connection to your machine and select that item.
    If unsure which icon represents the roast machine, disconnect and reconnect the Ethernet cable to see which icon updates.
  3. Click on Details…
  4. Open the TCP/IP section and choose Manually next to Configure IPv4.
  5. Enter the specific IP Address for your roaster and replace the fourth number block with 42:
    • IP Address: 192.168.1.42
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  6. Click the OK button to confirm the changes.
 
 


Roasting Intelligence Setup

Installing the Roasting Intelligence software

  1. Download the custom version of Roasting Intelligence depending on your computer's operating system.
  2. Complete the installation process.
  3. Double-click the Cropster icon on your desktop to access Roasting Intelligence.
  4. Click the green Login with the browser button.
  5. You will be directed to the C-sar browser. 
  6. Enter your Username* and Password* and click the green Sign in with password button. 
    Use the same credentials that you use to access the online platform C-sar. 


Establishing a connection to the machine
 

The images below are for reference and may slightly differ from your screen.

 

 

Important details to keep in mind:

  • Before you start configuring your roast machine, ensure that you have added it via the online platform C-sar.
  • Only click Save after you've completed all settings in Roasting Intelligence.
 

 

  1. SelectPreferences > Machine > Configuration.
  2. To choose the Roast machine, click on the dropdown menu in the Machine section.
  3. Click the + Add connector option to choose your connector from the dropdown list.
  4. Select Revolva PLC from the dropdown. 
  5. Click Select to add the connector.
  6. Click theGear icon in the Connector setup section to open and configure more PLC settings.
  7. Enter the Hostname/IP address.
    The default IP address of the Revolva 30-G roast machine: 192.168.0.1
  8. Click OK.
  9. Navigate to the Machine > Measurements tab. All supported measurements will be displayed.
  10. To activate the measurements, simply click the green toggle button.
  11. Enable the desired measurements and choose Revolva PLC as the connector type.
  12. (Optional) Change the order of the measurements by using theDrag and Drop icon and move it into position.
  13. Navigate to the Machine > Switch controls tab. 
  14. To activate the Switch controls, simply click the green toggle button. 
  15. (Optional) Change the order of the Switch controls by using the   Drag and Drop icon and move it into position. 
  16. Click Save to finalize the changes. 

     

  17. Restart Roasting Intelligence. If the setup was successful, you will see the temperature values displayed on the right-hand side of the screen following the restart.

Troubleshooting

If Roasting Intelligence indicates No source connected and/or you cannot see any measurements, please check the following: 

  • Is the IP address set properly in the Machine settings?
  • Have you established a static IP address?
