How to use the Bean Curve Prediction

Overview
This article will explain how to activate and use the Bean Curve Prediction.
Why use the Bean Curve Prediction?
Bean Curve Prediction forecasts your Bean Temperature and RoR trajectories in real-time. This allows for precise gas adjustments, ensuring your roast tracks the reference curve with high accuracy. The result is a more consistent roast and the possibility of developing new Profiles.
How does the Bean Curve Prediction work?
The prediction begins after 60 seconds, refining its accuracy every second as it analyzes your real-time roast data.
Instructions
Activating the Bean Temperature and RoR Temperature prediction curves
- Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
- Navigate to the
Preferences on the bottom left side of the screen. - Select Roasting > Smart features.
-
Click the respective checkbox to show the Bean Temperature and RoR Temperature prediction curves.

- Click Save to confirm the changes.
This feature is optimized for standard roast curves (drop followed by a continuous rise). Since hot air roasters often deviate from these profiles, prediction accuracy may vary on those machines.
Bean Curve Connection Requirements
- Stable Internet Connection: A continuous connection is required for real-time processing.
- Live Data Syncing: The algorithm updates every second, incorporating new temperature and gas data to maintain prediction accuracy.
- Immediate Feedback: A live connection ensures the model reacts instantly to manual changes (e.g., gas adjustments) and reflects their impact on the curve.
Data Usage Summary
- Average Consumption: Approximately 1 MB every 3 minutes.
- Per Roast: Roughly 4 MB (based on a 12-minute session).
- High Volume: An 8-hour roasting day (approx. 25–30 roasts) consumes about 1 GB of data.
