The images below are for reference and may vary slightly from your screen.

Important details to keep in mind:

  • Before you start configuring your roast machine, ensure that you have added it via the online platform C-sar.
  • Only click Save after you've completed all settings in Roasting Intelligence.

  1. SelectPreferences > Machine > Configuration
  2. To choose the Roast machine, click on the dropdown menu in the Machine section.
  3. Click the + Add connector option to choose your connector from the dropdown list.
  4. Select Primo PID from the dropdown.
If your roast machine is equipped with the optional Phidget for measuring Exhaust temperature, please also add the Phidgets Thermocouple Sensor (TMP1101).
  5. Click Select to add the connector.
  6. Click the Gear icon in the Connector setup section to open and configure more settings.
  7. Select the Serial port corresponding to your roast machine, as well as the Temperature unit shown on your roast machine's display.

  11. Enable the desired measurements and choose Primo PID as the connector type.
If your roast machine is equipped with the optional Phidget for measuring Exhaust temperature, please select Phidgets Thermocouple Sensor (TMP1101) from the dropdown. Channel 0 and Type J will be pre-selected.
  12. (Optional) Change the order of the measurements by using theDrag and Drop icon and move it into position.

The Primo roaster can be controlled with Cropster’s Slider controls in two ways:

  1. To manage the temperature, adjust the Set Temperature Slider. Make sure to switch the 'Auto' toggle to ON to enable active temperature control.
  2. Turn off the 'Auto' toggle to manually adjust the gas level from 0–100% using the slider.

Troubleshooting

If Roasting Intelligence indicates No source connected and/or you cannot see any measurements, please check the following:

  • Is the roast machine connected to the computer?
  • Have you downloaded the driver for the USB serial converter?
  • Is the correct serial port within the RI selected?
  • Are the settings copied correctly?
  • If you are not able to control the gas, you may need to set the roaster's PID to Manual mode. To do so, hold the set button on the PID for several seconds until you see flashing values, then use the arrow to navigate to Ctrl. Here, you should see PID as the correct option and click Set again to confirm.

⚠️ If Roasting Intelligence shows "Sources connected" but no live temperatures appear, you may have selected the wrong serial port. Ensure you've chosen the port specifically assigned to your roasting machine.

Driver for the USB serial converter

If the correct serial port does not appear in the Roasting Intelligence field, your computer likely lacks the necessary driver to identify the physical connection of the serial converter

Please reach out to support.cropster.com and attach the following information relevant to the USB serial converter used:

  • Manufacturer and model
  • Serial number
  • Picture of the serial converter
  • Roasting Intelligence log files

A Cropster representative will assess the information and assist in providing the required driver for the USB serial converter used.
