Hardware connection

Ethernet port connection

  1. Plug the Ethernet cable into your roaster.
  2. Plug the other end into your computer.

Static IP configuration

Because you are connecting the roaster directly to your computer, you must assign a static IP address. Follow the appropriate steps for your system:

Windows 10 & 11

  1. Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center (or Network and Internet > Network Sharing Center).
  2. Click Change adapter settings.
  3. Find your machine's Network connection. Tip: Unplug and reconnect the Ethernet cable to see which icon changes.
  4. Right-click that Local Area Connection and click Properties.
  5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  6. Choose Use the following IP Address.
  7. Enter exactly these details:
    • IP Address: Copy the first three blocks of your roaster's IP address, but change the fourth block to 42 (Example: 172.30.30.42).
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  8. Leave all other fields empty and click OK to save.

macOS

  1. Open System Settings > Network.
  2. Find your machine's Network connection. Tip: Unplug and reconnect the Ethernet cable to see which icon changes.
  3. Click Details…
  4. Open the TCP/IP menu and change Configure IPv4 to Manually.
  5. Enter exactly these details:
    • IP Address: Copy the first three blocks of your roaster's IP address, but change the fourth block to 42 (Example: 172.30.30.42).
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Troubleshooting

"No source connected" or missing live measurements

  • Did you configure the Static IP address exactly as instructed?
  • Did you select the correct IP address for your machine model?
  • Is your roast machine built after February 2018?

"Source connected" but measurements show "-1"

  • Your Giesen roaster is not unlocked. You must enter the unlock code first.

Controls not working well

  • Do not use parallel temperature control software. If another program adjusts gas, airflow, or drum speed, Replay Assist will be automatically disabled for the rest of the roast.
  • Ensure that the drum speed unit (Hz or RPM) in your reference roast matches your current machine settings. The software assumes these units match when duplicating the reference.

For further assistance, submit a ticket to Cropster Support and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
