Roasting with Cropster's Control features
- Start your roast as you usually would with Roasting Intelligence.
-
Instead of using your roast machine's physical control board, you can easily adjust the gas, airflow, and drum speed using the Slider control on the right side of the Roasting Intelligence screen:
- For small adjustments, use the - and + buttons.
- For big adjustments, use the Control bar by dragging and dropping the slider.
- For instant adjustments, click the percentage values shown on the Control bar to instantly adjust the air value accordingly.
-
Input values directly and receive immediate feedback as you adjust the Control sliders.

⚠️ Entering an invalid value will trigger a warning message as shown in the screenshot below:
Replaying a roast
Once you have recorded a roast using the gas, airflow, or drum speed controls, set it as your Reference roast to enable Replay Assist:
Replay is only compatible with Reference roasts originally recorded using Cropster's Control sliders.
-
Prepare your roast by entering the Profile, Green Inventory, and Start weight.

- Make sure you have the Replay feature enabled.
- A green Replay button appears at the bottom, next to the Start button.
- Click the Replay button to start the roast using Replay Assist.
-
In Replay mode, gas, airflow, and drum speed adjust automatically based on the Bean temperature of the Reference roast.
⚠️ Switching profiles after a roast has started will not update these settings. Because gas changes are calculated at the beginning of the roast, the curve will not adapt to a new profile. -
Upcoming auto adjustments will be shown in the comments box on the right-hand side of the roasting screen, marked with the Replay icon.
You can manually override the upcoming auto adjustments via:- (Recommended) The Control sliders.
- The roast machine's control board.
- Five seconds after the roast ends, the gas, airflow, and drum speed automatically reset to the Reference roast's initial settings to prepare the roast machine for the next batch.
Best Practices and Recommendations
- Never leave the roast machine unattended: You are responsible for monitoring your roast machine's safety at all times.
- We do not recommend early gas Replay changes in conjunction with Auto-start detection, as this could result in gas changes being made before the roast starts.
-
Pay close attention during the first 1-3 batches of the day; inconsistent roast machine temperatures may require manual adjustments.
⚠️ When using Replay Assist, do not use other temperature-controlling software (e.g., Probat Pilot Roaster Shop software) in parallel. Any changes from a concurrent client will disable Replay Assist for the remainder of the roast.
