Why take Samples? Taking Samples Taking Samples from a batch Creating Samples linked to a lot

Why take Samples?

Samples serve two main purposes at Cropster:

  1. To collect quality information through Sensorial and Physical Analysis.
You can create samples linked to batches or samples linked to lots. You can also create samples directly that do not link to either.
  2. To print labels and track the status of samples sent to the buyers.

You always need to add the lot to your Inventory first and then take a Sample.

Creating Samples linked to a lot that is not in your (Green) Inventory is not possible.

Taking Samples

There are three ways to take samples via the online platform C-sar:

  1. Adding new Samples
  2. Taking Samples from a batch
  3. Creating Samples linked to a lot

Taking Samples from a batch

By following the steps below, you can create Samples linked to a batch:

  1. Log in to the online platform C-sar.
  2. Navigate to Origin on the main menu bar and select Batches.
  3. Click on the respective ID tag of the batch, and you will be directed to the batch's details page.
  4. Under the Samples box, click on +Add sample. You will be directed to the +Add sample page.
  5. Enter the Sample weight and select the Sample type*.
    * indicates mandatory fields
  6. Select additional information to track your samples by clicking the dropdown next to Customize fields.

  7. Click on Create sample. You will be directed to the batch's details page, where you can add green grading (1) and cupping information (2).
  8. The quality information will then appear in the sample's overview under the Quality information section.
A summary of the results is also available in the Samples box on the batch's details page.

Learn more about how to use the Quality module.

Creating Samples linked to a lot

By following the steps below, you can create Samples linked to a lot:

  1. Log in to the online platform C-sar.
  2. Navigate to the (Green) Inventory on the main menu bar.
  3. Click on the respective ID tag of the lot, and you will be directed to the lot's details page.
  4. Scroll down to the Quality information section and select the option to +Add sample.
Clicking the +Add sample button opens a popup to create a new sample or link to an existing one; toggle between options using the slider.

 Learn how to mill lots.
