Roasting Intelligence - Getting Started

Overview
This article explains how to successfully perform your first roast with the Roasting Intelligence. Roasting Intelligence drives efficiency, ensures consistent quality, and empowers you to take your product development to the next level.
Instructions
Before roasting
Before following the steps in this article, please ensure the following:
- Review the minimum system requirements.
- Consult your roasting machine's setup manual. This ensures you are using the specific version of Roasting Intelligence required for your machine's connection type. If you’re unsure, please contact our Customer Support Team for guidance. We are here for you.
- Add your roast machine via the online platform C-sar.
- Download Roasting Intelligence and configure your roast machine settings.
Depending on the operating system you use, there are two options to find the Roasting Intelligence on your desktop:
- Windows: Check your program files and look for Cropster Roasting Intelligence.

MacOS: Check your applications and look for Cropster Roasting Intelligence.
- Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
- Explore the Help > Interface Tour to quickly learn layout and Roasting Intelligence's functionalities.
- Set your Preferences.
- Customize the layout of your Roasing Intelligence screen.

Select a Profile. Once you select a Profile, Roasting Intelligence pre-fills the Green inventory and Start weight for you.
- The Start button becomes active. Load the hopper with green coffee.
- Click on Start. Within 30 seconds of hitting the Start button, charge your roaster with beans and the roast will start.
During roasting
The roasting screen provides a real-time view of the following information:
- Available temperature curves and their values on the right-hand side of the chart.
- When enabled, Rate of Rise (RoR) for all temperature curves.

Available Machine readouts, e.g., Gas.
⚠️This detail depends on your roast machine and connection. - Modulation chart at the bottom of the graph.
- Roast duration in the right corner of the screen.
- Modulation phase timer.

Event buttons.
💡You can click anywhere on the graph to open the comments field. - Toggle Smart Predictions on or off using the switch in the top-left corner.

Adjust the vertical layout of the Reference box and Machine readouts to change how many comments are visible at once.
After roasting
Roasting Intelligence automatically logs every roast to the online platform C-sar.
There are two ways to finish your roast:

Open the flap: When enabled, Roasting Intelligence automatically detects the end of your roast by the drop in temperature when the cooling flap opens.
⚠️ You must turn on Automatic start and end detection for this feature to work. -
Click on the Stop button and confirm it within 3 seconds.
(Optional) You can edit the Start and End weight, Roast values, also add Roast notes before saving the session.
💡 Tips and Recommendations:
- Once your Profiles are set, we recommend setting a Reference Curve for each to ensure consistency and precision during every session.
