Setting up a connection
Your Diedrich roast machine may have a rear-end Ethernet port to connect the Ethernet cable from the machine to a network router or computer.
If your machine does not have a rear-end Ethernet port, use the HMI display's LAN1 port instead.

Via the network router

- Connect the network cable to your roaster's rear-end (or LAN1) ethernet port.
- Connect the other end to your network router's Ethernet port.
- Proceed with the Network settings.
This connection requires a network router (DHCP server). Most home routers will have the DHCP server turned on by default.

Identifying the IP address
Once the Diedrich has been connected to a network router, an IP address has been assigned to the roaster.
- Go to the Diedrich's HMI display.
- Go to the setup screen and press the Refresh IP address button.
-
You will need to refer to the LAN1 IP address.
You will need to input the LAN1 IP address from RI at a later step.
The LAN1 and LAN2 IP addresses may differ from the image. -
Continue with DHCP configuration for Windows or macOS.
DHCP configuration - Windows 7, 8, 10

Troubleshooting
If RI indicates No sources connected and/or you cannot see any measurements, please check the following:
- Is the machine connected via the rear-end Ethernet port, or the HMI's LAN1 Ethernet port?
-
Is the machine connected to a network router?
- Is the network router DHCP-capable?
- Did you verify the LAN1 IP address, and input it as shown from Diedrich's HMI?
Connecting via a DHCP router
The router uses DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to communicate with the Diedrich HMI. Because IP addresses are only leased (or borrowed), if you lose connection from the RI it is likely that:
- The LAN1 IP address changed upon adjusting the connection to the router.
- The lease time for the IP address reached its end, and hence a new IP address may have been assigned to the LAN1 port.
If you lose connection to the Diedrich, it will be important to check that the LAN1 IP address has not changed since the last time it was inputted into the RI's Machine settings.
Congratulations! You have successfully set up the Cropster Roasting Intelligence.
