Overview Instructions Creating a Blend Adjusting the Blend Editing or rolling back a Blend Additional methods for manual blending FAQs

The feature for creating a blend within the Order Fulfillment process is specifically designed for Commerce users. Creating blends via the Post-roast blend overview or the Roasts overview page remains available for Roast users as well.

Overview

This article introduces the dedicated Blending tab within the Order Fulfillment (OF) process, detailing the new streamlined method for creating blends to satisfy open orders. It also covers important inventory logic and the additional methods for manually creating blends.

Instructions

Creating a Blend

  1. Navigate to the Blending tab within the Order Fulfillment process.
    • The table displays the following information:
      • Blend profile: Every blend profile that is part of the order.
      • Status:
        • There are two statuses:
          • Open: It means that the “To blend” quality is higher than 0.
          • Completed: It means that the “To blend” quantity is 0.
      • Ordered: The amount of blended coffee needed to fulfill the demand of this order.
      • On-hand: The total weight of post-roast blends that are not yet packaged.
      • To blend: It is calculated by deducting on-hand blended inventory and allocated packaged inventory.
      • Available to blend: The maximum amount you can blend is determined by the component roast with the lowest available inventory across all locations, according to the blend's profile ratio.

  2. Locate the Blend profile you need to create a click the Add blend button.

Adjusting the Blend

  1. After clicking on the Add blend button, you will be directed to the Add blend page.
  2. While the system provides smart pre-fill for efficiency, you retain full control:
    • The page is pre-filled with the Post-roast blend profile you need to blend for and the Total blend weight that you need to blend to fulfill the Order. It also automatically pulls in roasts from the past 30 days, using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method to fulfill the calculated blend weight.
    • You have complete flexibility to modify the selected roasts and their weight values. You can even choose to add all available roast inventory up to the limit defined by the Post-roast blend profile.
  3. Click Create blend. Once the required blends are created, the Blending profile status on the Blending tab will update to Completed.

Please note:

  • The "Available to blend" number reflects the total inventory across all locations. You can only blend roasts in the same location. If your roasted stock is distributed across multiple warehouses, the "Available" number may exceed the quantity actually on hand at your current site.
  • The smart pre-fill looks for the oldest roasts globally. If the system pre-selects a roast that is in a different location, you will need to manually swap it for one in the current/same location.
  • All blend-related inventory numbers (on-hand, available to blend, and available roasts) are determined by the 30-day Commerce inventory filter.

Editing or rolling back a Blend

  1. Click on the More options icon. This action immediately takes you to the Post-roast blends overview page, filtered by the Post-roast blend profile you need to modify.
  2. Locate the specific blend you would like to change and click the Edit icon.
  3. Apply all necessary changes, then select Update blend to save.
To view the updates on the Blends tab, please refresh the page.

Additional methods for manual blending

In cases where you need to create a blend lot outside of an Order Fulfillment Plan, you can  manually blend your coffee via one of the following two methods:

  1. Via the Post-roast blend inventory overview page
  2. Via the Roasts overview page

⚠️ For Commerce users:

Manually creating blends without an associated blend profile will not increase your usable inventory, meaning that stock cannot be allocated to fulfill orders.

Via the Post-roast blend inventory overview page

  1. Log in to the online platform C-sar.
  2. Navigate to Roasted Inventory > Inventory on the main menu bar.
  3. Switch to the Post-roast blend inventory tab.
  4. The table displays the following information:
    • On-hand: The total weight of all post-roasts (PB lots) that are not yet packaged.
    • Ordered: The total weight of Orders that are Open or In progress.
    • To blend: Weight required after accounting for on-hand inventory (blended and packaged). The calculation is the following: Ordered - (minus) On-hand.
    • To be packaged: Weight planned for packaging.

FAQs

Can I blend more coffee than needed for orders?
Yes, once the coffee is marked blended, the On-hand inventory increases and can be utilized for future orders.

I need to change the Blend profile for a product in an "In Progress" Order Fulfillment, but the new Blend profile isn't available for selection. Why is the new Blend profile not showing up?
You need to archive the existing Order Fulfillment and create a new one that contains the orders with the updated Blend profile.

I want to blend more than the required "To Blend" weight to create a larger inventory batch. How do I blend my whole batch quantity instead of just the order amount?
To blend the whole batch, click “Add all available weight.” Select additional batches if you need to blend more.

Why don't I see all available roasts listed when creating a new blend via the Order Fulfillment process?
To maintain quick performance and usability, the selection is limited to roasts from the last 30 days. You can manually create a blend via the Create blend page without any limits.
