What are the SKUs? Why use SKUs? Creating SKUs Best practices

What are the SKUs?

SKU numbers, also known as Stock Keeping Units, are unique codes assigned to products to help retailers accurately track and manage their inventory.

Why use SKUs?

The link between the products available in your online store and your Cropster account is forged by using unique SKU numbers.

Utilizing SKUs allows for efficient tracking and management of inventory, enabling you to accurately monitor your stock levels and streamline operations.

  • Inventory Management: Tracking items using SKUs ensures that you can monitor the exact location of each product, leading to optimal stock levels and reducing unnecessary waste.
  • Order Fulfillment: Using SKUs enables orders to be processed with precision and speed, ensuring efficient fulfillment.
  • Sales Analysis: Assigning unique SKUs to products allows you to analyze sales data and pinpoint the best-selling items, trends, and seasonal variations. This information is crucial for making informed decisions and optimizing your business strategies.

Creating SKUs

  1. In case you have a shop integration set up: prior to mapping your Products in Cropster, it is essential to assign a distinct SKU to each of your Product variants in Shopify or Woocommerce.
  2. In case you do not have a shop integration set up: you need to manually add Products via the online platform C-sar and need to enter the SKU for each Product variants.
  3. Click on Create variant to add a product variant.

Best practices

  1. Define a standardized structure for your SKU codes that aligns with your individual requirements, e.g. you might include codes for the coffee type.
  2. Simplify your SKU codes to easily understand their meaning and identify Products quickly.
  3. Use the identical SKU across multiple stores if the final product is the same.
  4. Consistently review and revise SKUs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

If your product is available in multiple stores with matching SKUs, the mapping process will be simplified when using Cropster.

Congratulations! You have learned how to utilize the SKUs.
