How to set the Rate of Rise within Roasting Intelligence
This article will explain what is Rate of Rise, how to enable and disable the RoR for the measurements and also how to reset the Rate of Rise (RoR).

What is the Rate of Rise?
The Rate of Rise (RoR) is the speed at which the temperature of your beans is increasing. It’s measured over a specific time, usually between 30 and 60 seconds.
The Rate of Rise setup
By following the steps below, you can set up the Rate of Rise within Roasting Intelligence.
- Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
- Navigate to the
Preferences on the bottom left side of the screen and select Roasting > Rate of Rise (RoR).
- Choose between Recommended, Sensitive, and Noise smoothing, then select your preferred Time expression unit.

Click Save to apply the changes.
Tips and recommendations:
We suggest using the recommended (standard) RoR curve setting.
The time expression doesn't affect the RoR calculation, but only shows your preferred measurement unit for temperature increments (default: 60s).
Enable/disable the Rate of Rise for the measurements
By following the steps below, you can enable/disable the Rate of Rise measurements:
- Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
- Navigate to the
Preferences on the bottom left side of the screen and select Machine > Measurements.
- Select the dropdown associated with the measurement for which you want to enable or disable the RoR.
- To enable the RoR for the selected measurement, simply check the box next to the Rate of Rise; it will turn green to indicate activation. If you would like to disable RoR, uncheck the box, and it will revert to white, indicating that it is turned off.
