What is the Rate of Rise?

The Rate of Rise (RoR) is the speed at which the temperature of your beans is increasing. It’s measured over a specific time, usually between 30 and 60 seconds. 

The Rate of Rise setup

By following the steps below, you can set up the Rate of Rise within Roasting Intelligence.

1. Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
2. Navigate to thePreferences on the bottom left side of the screen and select Roasting > Rate of Rise (RoR).
3. Choose between Recommended, Sensitive, and Noise smoothing, then select your preferred Time expression unit.
4. Click Save to apply the changes. 
   

   

Enable/disable the Rate of Rise for the measurements

By following the steps below, you can enable/disable the Rate of Rise measurements: 

1. Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
2. Navigate to thePreferences on the bottom left side of the screen and select Machine > Measurements. 
3. Select the dropdown associated with the measurement for which you want to enable or disable the RoR.
4. To enable the RoR for the selected measurement, simply check the box next to the Rate of Rise; it will turn green to indicate activation. If you would like to disable RoR, uncheck the box, and it will revert to white, indicating that it is turned off.
5. Click Save to apply the changes.
   

   

    

Troubleshooting

The issue

RoR has been turned on, but it still does not display on your chart mid-roast.

The solution

You need to reset RoR to its default ranges by following the steps below: 

1. Log in to the Roasting Intelligence.
2. Navigate to thePreferences on the bottom left side of the screen, and select Roasting > Charts and comments.
3. Click the Reset chart axes button.
4. Click Save to apply the changes.
