What are the Processes? The steps of creating Processes Defining the Process method Configuring the Yield factor

What are the Processes?

Processes outline the different phases that coffee experiences, transforming it from its raw form to the finished product that is ready for consumption.

Before you can start adding Batches, it is essential to create at least one Process.

The steps of creating Processes

Creating a Process consists of two main steps:

  1. Defining the Process method
  2. Configuring the Yield factor

Defining the Process method

By following the steps below, you can define the Process method:

  1. Log in to the online platform C-sar.
  2. Navigate to Origin on the main menu bar.
  3. Select Processes.
  4. Click on +Add process on the top right side of the page.
  5. Enter the following details:
    • Name
    • Processing method
    • Received state
    • Stored state
    • Determine the Yield factor between states
    • Notes
    • Stages
  6. Select between the following Processing methods:
    • Aerobic
    • Anaerobic
    • Anaerobic honey
    • Anaerobic washed
    • Black honey
    • Carbonic maceration
    • Decaffeinated
    • Double soaked
    • Double washed
    • Fermented
    • Washed
    • Honey
    • Natural
    • Pulped natural
    • Red honey
    • Semi washed
    • Soaked
    • Wet hulled
    • White honey
    • Yellow honey
    • Misc (Miscellaneous)
    • Other

Configuring the Yield factor

By following the steps below you can configure the Yield factor based on the state of your coffee:

  1. Complete the steps 1-6 written above.
  2. Select the coffee state for each time the amount is recorded:
    • Received state: The phase when the coffee reaches the processing facility (mill).
      • Cherry
      • Dry cherry
      • Wet green
      • Green raw
    • Stored state: The phase when the coffee has been partially processed.
      • Cherry
      • Dry cherry
      • Wet green
      • Green raw
  3. Determine the Yield factor between states:
    • If the received state matches the stored state, then there will be one Yield factor: Received-Green.
    • If there are three states, then there will be two Yield factors: Received-Stored and Stored-Green.
    • Yield factors must be expressed as a relationship between an Input amount to an Output amount. The output must be less than the input.
    • You may choose different Units to measure the amounts.
  4. Optional Notes can also be added for further clarification or additional information.
  5. You can also add Stages by clicking on +Add stage. This step creates the stage a Process needs to undergo like fermentation, soaking, etc. When processing a batch part, stages will request a location, a start and end datetime.

  6. Click on Create process to submit.

Please double-check the information before submitting, as the following fields cannot be edited after process creation:

  • Processing method
  • The states in which the coffee is received and stored

Congratulations! You are now ready to set up Processes using Cropster Origin.
