This manual covers hardware connection, software installation and hardware setup of Cropster’s Roasting Intelligence for a wireless, or (Ethernet) cable connection to a HUB5000.
This roast machine is currently in the beta stage of development at Cropster.
Beta testing involves the evaluation of new features by a limited group of users to uncover minor issues that may not be apparent during internal testing. Cropster cannot advise on the installation of the hardware, and to ensure safety when installing any hardware on your machine, Cropster recommends consulting with a technician who can help with the installation.

There are various types of Phidgets cables available for the connection.
Installing the Phidget driver
Before you can use your Phidgets, you will need to install the Phidget Control Panel from: https://www.phidgets.com/docs/Phidgets_Drivers

Connecting the Hub to a Network
The HUB5000 (i.e. Wireless VINT Hub), has the capability for a wired, or wireless connection. To start, make sure to connect the following items, to the HUB5000:
- Power jack
- VINT Device(s)
- (optional) Ethernet cable for a connection with...
- A network router/switch.
- Your computer's Ethernet port
When you connect the power supply to the HUB5000, the red LED should turn on.
Proceed with:
- Connecting to the Wireless Network, if you are connecting wirelessly.
- Connecting via Ethernet, if you are connecting via Ethernet cable.
Connecting to the Wireless Network
- Access your device's Wi-Fi settings.
- Connect to the Phidget's Network (e.g. Phidgets_HUB5000_XXXXXX).
The above picture shows the available HUB5000's network, done on via a Mac computer's Network interface.- Enter the password printed on the HUB5000's label, and submit it to connect to the network. You will lose Wi-Fi access until finalizing the steps in this section.

- Access the Phidgets Configuration, by going to your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome), and typing your HUB5000's IP address or hostname in the URL address bar.

- If you are accessing the Phidget's Configuration page for the first time you are prompted to set a password. Enter a desired password twice and click the Submit button. You will be redirected to the Status tab.
IMPORTANT: Remember this password, as you'll need it to access the Phidgets Configuration from now on. - Go to the Network tab, and configure the Wireless Settings.
- Set the Wireless Mode to Client.
- Next to Networks, click the Scan button, and wait a few seconds.
- Click the Networks drop-down menu, and select your Wi-Fi network. This will autofill the network's Name, and Security information.
💡HUB5000 can not be connected to a hidden network (SSID). - Enter your Wi-Fi Network's password.
💡The password is the same password you use to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Set the Wireless Mode to Client.
- Click Save & Apply, then click OK to dismiss the warning.
- Proceed with Identifying the IP address.
It might take a few minutes for your Phidgets devices, to be “connected”. Once the VINT Hub is recognized as connected, they will appear from the Phidget Control Panel.
Connecting via Ethernet cable
- Access the Phidgets Configuration, by going to your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome), and typing your HUB5000's IP address or hostname in the URL address bar.

- Input a password for the Phidget's Configuration page, and click the Submit button. You will be redirected to the Status tab.
💡Remember this password, as you'll need it to access the Phidgets Configuration from now on. - Once logged in, to the Phidgets Configure page, navigate to the Network tab.

Connecting to a network switch/router
- From the Network tab, set the IPv4 Mode to DHCP.
- Proceed with Identifying the IP address.
Connecting directly to the computer
- From the Network tab, set the IPv4 Mode to Static.
- Enter the following Ethernet settings:
- IP address: 10.0.1.199
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Under Ethernet Settings, click Save & Apply
- Continue to Setting a Static IP address.

If you are connecting the VINT Hub via Ethernet cable, directly to the computer, please set a Static IP address (i.e. 10.1.0.42), based on the connected VINT Hub's IP address (i.e. 10.1.0.199).
Continue to Roasting Intelligence (RI) Setup.
Identifying the IP address
- Access the Phidgets Configuration, by going to your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome), and typing your HUB5000's hostname in the form http://<hostname>.local/ in the URL address bar:

- From the Status tab, refer to the IP address, under the Network section.
💡 Once you've identified the IP address, remember it, as you will need them when establishing a connection to the machine. - Proceed with the Roasting Intelligence (RI) Setup.

Upon configuring your VINT Hub's connection, and saving, the RI will need a restart to apply the settings.
Upon the restart, Allow the following warning:
