Overview

This article explains how to track Airflow and Gas manually and automatically while using Roasting Intelligence.

Instructions

Tracking Airflow and Gas manually

If Cropster doesn't support your machine's Gas or Airflow measurements, you can log them manually:

  1. Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
  2. Start roasting.
  3. To log a Gas or Airflow adjustment, simply click anywhere on the chart to open the comment window.
  4. Enter a whole number (0–100) and click the Gas or Airflow button. If a Reference is set, these fields will be automatically pre-filled based on that roast's adjustments. The Gas or Airflow comment will be marked with a red line on your chart.

Tracking Airflow and Gas automatically

Depending on the roast machine and the machine's PLC or PID, we might be able to track airflow or gas automatically.

If your machine supports automatic Gas tracking, you must configure this measurement in the Roasting Intelligence Machine Preferences for it to function correctly:

When using a Cropster Connector, you are limited to four temperature readings.
To track Gas or Airflow as well, you can "retrofit" your machine by adding extra hardware (such as a Phidget 1136 or 1138).

⚠️  This usually requires a gas technician to help with the installation.

Please send us a message via support.cropster.com if you are unsure which connection type your roast machine supports.

Exploring Cropster's Airflow and Gas Control & Replay Assist

Airflow and Gas Control lets you adjust your machine's settings directly from the Roasting Intelligence screen. Once you’ve completed a roast using these controls, set it as your Reference to unlock Replay Assist for future batches.
