Overview

This article explains how to schedule a Post-roast blend. Post-roast blend means you roast each component separately and mix them afterward.

When you use Roasting Intelligence to schedule these post-roast blend batches, the “Batch order” setting determines the sequence in which your production plan appears in Roasting Intelligence:

  • By component: This option groups all batches of the same coffee, regardless of which blend they will eventually belong to.
  • By cycle: This option groups batches based on the blend. It treats one “cycle” as the completion of one full recipe. With this workflow, you complete one “set” of blends at a time.

Instructions

Step 1: Scheduling a post-roast blend batch via the online platform C-sar

  1. Log in to the online platform C-sar.
  2. Navigate to Roasts > Schedules.
  3. Choose the Date and Location you want to set up a roasting schedule for.
  4. Click +Add schedule or the ‘+’ button located under the specific roast machine to add a new schedule.
  5. Select Post-roast blend.
  6. Select a Post-roast blend profile or click +Create blend profile and manually enter the Profile, Green lot, and ratios.

  1. Click + Add component to add more components to your blend.
  2. Select Calculate batches.
  3. Enter the total weight required into the Roasted field. If the number of batches is uneven, click Round up to full batch.
  4. Select the Batch order:
    • By component
    • By cycle
  5. To set a repeating schedule, click Repeat schedule and choose an interval and end date (up to three months). Recurring schedules will automatically appear on your calendar on every scheduled day.
  6. Check the box next to Create another schedule if you want to enter more batches.
  7. Click Add batches.

Step 2: Publishing the roast schedule via the online platform C-sar

  1. After creation, the batch will be listed on your Schedule page with an 'Unpublished' status.
  2. Click Publish. Published batches are highlighted in blue.

  1. Log in to Roasting Intelligence.
  2. Click the Synchronize button on the bottom left side of the screen.
  3. The schedule appears in the Production ("Today's production") sidebar.
  4. Refresh your Schedule browser page. The batch status will update to ‘Synced’ (dark green).

Step 4: Roasting the scheduled batch in Roasting Intelligence

  1. To begin roasting, you must select the specific scheduled batch from the Production ("Today's production") sidebar.
  2. Selecting the batch populates the Profile, Start weight, and Green inventory data and enables the Start button.
  3. Click Start.

Step 5: Reviewing the roasted batches

  1. Finish roasting.
  2. Upon saving the roast in Roasting Intelligence, the batch will be synchronized with the online platform C-sar.
  3. Refresh your Schedule browser page. The batch status will update to ‘Roasted’ (light green).
