Overview

This article explains how to connect your Shopify account to your Cropster account.

Starting from January 1, 2026, you will no longer be able to create any new legacy custom apps. To develop and manage new apps, you need to use the Dev Dashboard. This change doesn't affect any of your existing custom apps.

Create a new Custom App in the Dev Dashboard

Note for Existing Users:
You don't need to do anything for active integrations; your current setup will continue to work as expected. If you wish to switch to the new authentication method, please contact Shopify Customer Support for assistance.

Step 1: Create a new app

  1. Log in to your Shopify account.
  2. Navigate to Settings.
  3. Select Apps.
  1. Click Develop apps.
  2. Click Build apps in Dev Dashboard.
  3. Navigate to Apps in the left-hand panel and click Create app in the top-right corner.
  4. Select Start from Dev Dashboard.
  5. Enter the App name and click Create.

Step 2: Create a version

Your app must have at least one version before it can be installed on a store.

  1. Define your App URL. (Use https://shopify.dev/apps/default-app-home if the app is not embedded in the Shopify admin.)
  1. Enter or select your App Scopes to define data access permissions. The scopes need to be set: read_products, read_orders.
  2. Click Release. This action initiates a mandatory new version. Please note that no manual input is necessary; you only need to click Release to complete the process.

Step 3: Install your app

  1. Click on the name of your App on the left side.
  2. Click Install app.

The page should open with the name of your store. If you do not see your store, it means that you created an app outside of your store or in an external account. You need to log in to your account in Shopify and start from scratch. Click on the name of your store.

  3. Click Install
  4. Go back to the dev dashboard and refresh the page. You should see that the number of installs is greater than 0.
