How to add a measurement to a machine within Roasting Intelligence (Cropster Connector setup)

This article describes how to set up an additional readout via a Cropster Connector (=Phidget). 




Adding the measurement to a machine


First, you need to add the additional measurement to your machine online.:

  1. Log in to the online platform C-sar.
  2. Navigate to the Gear icon on the top right side of the page.
  3. Select Machines. You will be directed to the Machines overview page
  4. Click the EditIcon (1)-png-1 Edit icon on the right side of the page at the roast machine you would like to add the measurement for.

  5. Scroll down to the Measurements section and click on +Add measurement

  6. Click Update machine

Setting up the new measurement


Once the new measurement is enabled, it needs to be set up within Roasting Intelligence (RI):

  1. Connect the probe wires to a free channel on your Cropster Connector.  Start or restart Roasting Intelligence (RI) to sync the new measurement. 
  2. Navigate to gear-png-2 Preferences > Machine > Configuration tab. 
  3. Navigate to the Connector setup section. Choose your connector from the available options by clicking the +Add connector button. 
  4. Depending on the type of your probes, choose one of the following options from the dropdown: 
    • Temperature sensor K/J/E/T-type thermocouples (Phidget 1048)
    • Resistance temperature detectors (Pt100/Pt1000 RTDs) (Phidget 1046)
  5. Click Select

  6. Navigate to the Machine > Measurements tab. All supported measurements will be displayed here.  To activate the measurements, simply click the green toggle button.

  7. Select Temperature sensor (Ungrounded K/J/E/T-type thermocouples) from the dropdown at each measurement.
    💡 Make your measurement readouts more compact. Choose the size of your measurement readouts by selecting either the Small or Large view for display.
  8. Select the Channel.
    💡The channel refers to the ports on the Cropster Connector. If the probe wires are connected to port 1/G, select 1 under the channel. 
  9. Select the Type of thermocouple.

  10. (Optional) Click the toggle button to turn on (or off) the Rate of Rise (RoR) curve for your measurements.

  11. Change the order of the measurements by using the  Drag and Drop icon and move it into position.
    💡You can personalize the appearance of each measurement by selecting the colored dots located on the right side of the screen.
  12. Click Save to finalize the changes.
