This article explains how to schedule single origin lots and pre-roast blends.

Why use Roast schedules?
Roast schedules help answer key questions, such as:
- How many roast batches are needed, and what is the optimal batch size?
- How much green coffee is needed?
- How much excess coffee will be roasted if you use the full batch size?
- How much green coffee is needed for blend profiles?
The Schedule overview page
By following the steps below, you can navigate to the Schedule overview page:
- Log in to the online platform C-sar.
- Navigate to Roasts on the main menu bar and select Schedule
Clicking More and then Start tour opens a helpful window on the left side of your screen that guides you through the features of the Schedule overview page for easier navigation and understanding.
Timeline
Choose the date you want to add a roast schedule to. Use the arrows to change the date or jump to a specific day by clicking on the calendar and choosing the desired date.
Locations
Toggle between your locations by choosing the location from the drop-down menu.
Machines
Click on the + button underneath the machine you want to add a schedule for.
Scheduled batches
Each scheduled batch is listed in the overview section, with color codes and a status bar on the left to help track daily production.
- Unpublished: This is a batch in draft state. While in this state, the batches can be edited simply by clicking on the batch. Draft batches are not yet available within Roasting Intelligence (RI).
- Published: The batches are now available to RI, but RI has not been synced yet.
- Synced: RI has been synced, and the batches appear in RI.
- Roasted: The batches have been roasted.
- Inconsistent: The batches have been roasted, but with a different green lot or weight than scheduled.
Adding a roast schedule
By following the steps below, you can add a roast schedule:
- Navigate to the Schedule overview page.
- Click on + Add schedule in the upper-left corner or use the + button under the machine tab.
- Select the Date you would like to schedule your batches for.
- Select Single Origin / Pre-roast blend.

- Profile
- Weight loss
- Green lot
- Machine
- Roast technician
- Add notes (Optional)
- Batch size
- #Batches (Batch count): To quickly add batches, enter the desired batch count for the profile and click +Quick add.
- Click Calculate batches to continue.
Calculating batches
- You can calculate batches based on your required roasted coffee, available green coffee, or desired batch count. Enter a value in one field, and the others will update automatically.
- If the number of batches is uneven, click Round up to full batch.
- If you want to save this as a repeating schedule, click Repeat schedule and enter an interval and end date. The maximum period for a repeating schedule is three months.
- Check the box next to Create another schedule, if you want to enter more batches.
- Click Add # batches to add the batches to your schedule.
Recurring schedules will automatically sync and display the day they are set to repeat.
Reviewing and publishing the schedule
Within the online platform C-sar
- The submitted batches appear now on the Schedule page to be reviewed.
- You can edit a single batch by clicking on the scheduled batch underneath the machine name.
- To edit the schedule for a single-origin Profile, scroll down to the Scheduled coffees section and click Edit.
- Change the order of the batches by clicking on the drag-and-drop symbol and moving them.
- Click Publish to make your schedule available to the Roasting Intelligence (RI). Once published, the batches turn blue. They will turn green once they are synced with the RI.
Within the Roasting Intelligence (RI)
- Start Roasting Intelligence (RI) and synchronize it with the server by clicking the Synchronize button in the bottom-left corner.
- The schedule appears in the production overview on the left-hand side.
- If you now refresh your schedule online in C-sar, the batches will have turned green.
Unfinished scheduled roasts will only carry over into the next day.
Fortunately, you have the flexibility to effortlessly move your scheduled batches between different machines and days with a simple drag-and-drop feature.
