How to allow Roasting Intelligence (RI) to find devices on your network (macOS only)

This article is for users running Roasting Intelligence (RI) on macOS 15 and higher with a roast machine connected via the network.

MacOS requires permission for certain apps to access network data.

If your roast machine is network-connected, you’ll need to grant Roasting Intelligence (RI) this access.

There are two ways to allow access:

  1. During the initial setup

  2. Retroactively via the System Settings

During the initial setup

When you start Roasting Intelligence (RI) for the first time after setting up your machine, a prompt will be displayed requesting your permission to access devices connected to your local network.

Click Allow to grant Roasting Intelligence (RI) access.

Retroactively via the system settings

If you accidentally click Don’t Allow in the prompt, you can easily enable network access by adjusting your system settings.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure Roasting Intelligence (RI) can connect to your roast machine:
  1. Open the Apple menu and select System Settings...
  2. Go to Privacy & Security, then click on Local Network.

  3. In the Local Network settings, locate Cropster Roasting Intelligence and toggle the switch to the right to enable access.
